Appropriate Drag Racing Wear
Aside from driving the coolest cars that run at maximum speed, drag racers are very particular about the wardrobe they wear especially during competitions. Because every motor sport is a high-risk activity, it is important that a drag racing driver does not only look good in his drag racing suit-he must be well protected with the wardrobe that he chooses to wear.
The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), an organisation dedicated to address various concerns in the motoring industry, has set standards on the correct gear that should be worn by every drag racing driver. FIA highly promotes abrasion-resistant driver suits and clothing that provide protection against extreme heat and flame. Furthermore, vulnerable areas like the ankles, wrists, and neck should be covered with at least two layers of clothing to minimise susceptibility to injury. Helmets and neck braces should conform to the Snell ratings to ensure that you have the best protection for your head. Another crucial point to take note is the thread that is used in attaching different badges on the clothing. It should be able to resist fire and should adhere to the standards in FIA's code of protective clothing.
For amateur drag racing drivers who are just starting out their motor sport career, it is important that proper clothing must be observed because of the possible dangers that could happen at any given time. Remember that in this case, being stylish in your racing suit is not the top priority. It is your life that should be safeguarded at all times.
